History

Hodson Bay Group founded in 1992 due to the opening of Hodson Bay Hotel, Athlone. The Group expanded over the last 25 years with construction of the Galway Bay Hotel (153 bedrooms), the Sheraton Athlone Hotel (167 bedrooms) and now in 2017 Dean Street Hotel in Dublin city centre.

25 Years of Onwards and Upwards

1995 Galway Bay Hotel construction. 2000 purchase and development, Manor Mills, Co. Kildare. 2002 Athlone Town Centre construction. 2004 Retreat Wing & Spa development for Hodson Bay Athlone. 2007 – 2011  launch and operation – Athlone Town Shopping Centre & Cityquarter Residential Centre. 2008  Sheraton Athlone Hotel construction.

Over the years, the Group has developed a set of core values: Excellence, Passion, Honesty, Flexibility, and Fun. Investment in training of all personnel allows our core values to filter through our hotels. It is through the commitment and dedication of all staff that the Group continues to achieve success.

Best Practice Recognition

Deloitte Best Managed Companies Awards for seven consecutive years. These awards recognise indigenous Irish companies across Ireland operating at the highest levels of business performance. In 2016 Hodson Bay Group was the first Irish hotel group to win the Deloitte Best Managed Platinum Recognition Award.

Today

The Group currently comprises of three four star hotels with a construction of a fourth underway, adjacent to St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Dublin. Collectively, the group operates 500 bedrooms and employs over 600 people. We continue to evaluate and explore new opportunities for future growth.
