SUSTAINABILITY

Environment      Community      People      Governance

At Hodson Bay Group, we view sustainable hospitality as a responsibility that guides every aspect of how we operate. We are committed to protecting the natural beauty and cultural heritage of the places we call home, while providing exceptional guest experiences that respect and preserve the landscapes and communities around us. Our commitment extends across the entire organisation, from reducing our environmental footprint to supporting local suppliers and promoting responsible tourism.

We focus on reducing energy use, conserving water, minimising waste, eliminating single use plastics, protecting biodiversity, sourcing locally, and contributing to the wellbeing of the communities where we work. Our sustainability strategy aims to support the long term preservation of our environment while ensuring responsible and sustainable economic growth.

A Responsible Business Framework

Our sustainability framework aligns environmental and social priorities with the needs of our stakeholders. At its heart is respect for our customers, colleagues, communities, and environment. Our Respect for the Environment pillar emphasises our responsibility to reduce our environmental impact while supporting positive social and economic outcomes.

Sustainability is embedded across every level of the organisation. Steering groups, from the Board of Directors to each hotel department, ensure that sustainability remains central to decision making. This structure is supported by external expert guidance and independently audited certification programmes which help us align with international standards, including the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, the Global Sustainable Tourism Council Criteria, the EU Ecolabel and the Sustainability Hospitality Alliance.

Our sustainability logo, introduced this year, represents our commitment and appears across all staff and guest communications, reinforcing our shared approach.

Our Environment

We have invested €3.5 million across a range of environmental programmes designed to reduce our carbon footprint, decrease water consumption, improve waste segregation, support sustainable procurement, eliminate single use plastics, increase biodiversity and encourage guest participation in our Keen to be Green programme. These efforts are supported by Green Hospitality accreditations which provide a structured, independently verified approach to sustainable operations across all hotels.

Our Community

For over 30 years, Hodson Bay Group has been part of the social fabric in each of our locations. We work closely with charities, sports clubs, youth organisations and cultural groups, providing financial assistance, services and volunteer support. Our hotels benefit from strong local connections and we continually invest in partnerships that enrich the lives of the people who live and work around us.

Our People

Our environmental initiative, A Greener Stay, A Greater Tomorrow, fosters a culture of sustainability for our people, guests, and communities. Our colleagues are central to our progress and play an active role in shaping our sustainability achievements. We support this through comprehensive onboarding, continuous training, clear career pathways, and a culture built on the four pillars of respect.
Transparency & Trust
